'Soundbreaking' to Screen in Chicago, San Francisco

Every year the most exciting and innovative offerings in music, film, and technology ascend upon Austin, TX for the annual SXSW festival. Showcasing the year’s newest technology, the brightest emerging talent, and the best in film, SXSW is the ultimate music festival in the United States. Those fortunate enough to attend this year’s fest were able to catch the premier of recording history documentary series ‘Soundbreaking’. Now, ‘Soundbreaking’ will be screening at CIMM in Chicago in addition to the San Francisco Film Festival. Each screening will feature the first two segments in this highly anticipated eight part series, which will air in its entirety on PBS in November.
With what its filmmakers describe as “unprecedented access” into the world of audio and recording, ‘Soundbreaking’ goes behind the scenes to speak with music’s most legendary artists and producers to get the history behind the most influential music of our time. Interviews with over 160 of the greatest musical minds give us a glimpse into some of the world’s greatest songs came to be. Interviewees include Nigel Godrich, Daniel Lanois, Radiohead, Questlove, Rick Rubin, archival footage of Johnny Cash and George Martin, Tony Visconti, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Beck, Annie Lennox, Dave Stewart, RZA, and many more.
