8th June 2014 • 1 commentHi everyone, Christine here! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend in whichever corner of the globe you’re nestled. As you may have noticed, things are quite busy around here and it may seem a bit frenetic. There’s much going on behind the scenes and we have a lot of wonderful, exciting news we want to update you on.
As any long time readers know, one of my favorite bands is Noughts and Exes. The fist time I wrote about them was back when I was still doing a column for Think Like a Label and I had written an article about music in America and how puzzling it can be. I adored the band and was perplexed by their lack of popularity in the US. The band was shown the article and got in touch to thank me. Joshua Wong, lead singer, and I became fast friends and have stayed in touch since then. I consulted with the band on various things pertaining to the US music industry, all the while the band and their current manager Spencer Douglass ran things in Hong Kong. Recently the momentum and level of success they’ve achieved have demanded that the band have someone in the US help in a more official capacity so they’ve asked me to join the team. It’s an honor to work with them and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together.
With this in mind, Thirty Roses will be sharing a lot of info on Noughts and Exes goings on as they’re on our ‘roster.’ (Seriously, we have a roster?)
You may remember at the beginning of May we told you about the Moccasin Creek Festival.It’s only a few short weeks away and thanks to all of you, our interview with fest founder Bill Poss has been really successful. There’s still time to buy single day or weekend passes in advance. You can buy them at the gate at the event but, obviously, you risk the event being sold out.You also get a discount if you get them on the web site ahead of time. Last but not least, I was contacted this week and asked to become involved with something quite exciting. It seems to encompass the philosophies and ethos we have at Thirty Roses and is a full scale, full time version of Artists We Love. As much as I’d love to give you full details….I feel as though I should wait until the ink is dry on the contracts. So I guess I’m just being mean and stringing you along until next time…..stay tuned
With all sincerity I say the following: Thirty Roses was founded as a resource for musicians who couldn’t readily find a lot of things around the web. It was also founded to save me during the darkest time of my life. I didn’t think anyone but me would ever notice it. I certainly didn’t think it would lead to lifelong friends, cherished colleagues, and an entire career. This evolution has taken place, in part because of really hard work, but that hard work only paid off because people read what we had to say; what I had to say. Thank you so much for reading, and for sharing, for Facebooking, for Tweeting, for emailing, for commenting, and for making Thirty Roses what it is today.
