A Purple World Mourns Prince

As news of Prince’s death spread yesterday so too did tributes. The Minnesota Department of Transportation seemed to start a global trend when they shared a photo of Minnesota’s I-35W bridge glowing in Prince’s signature purple hue. From there every monument around the world followed suit and the photos around social media and news networks were something to behold.

It’s worth mentioning that Niagra Falls and Toronto’s CN Tower were purple, however  Canada had illuminated those monuments in celebration of the long life of its monarch, Queen Elizabeth II . A bit of historical serendipity, it would seem.
