Happy Weekend!

Hello, hello! Can you sense our excitement? It’s been quite a week at Thirty Roses HQ! MIchael’s article on The Firebird Band has been HUGE, great things are happening over at The vt blog,and we’re proud that so many indie artists put their faith in us (and the vt!).
If I can make a quick film recommendation Whether you like 30 Seconds to Mars as a band or not, watch their documentary Artifact. It chronicles what the band went through when EMI sued them and shows the sad truth of major label life. Allow me to also suggest this article, suggested to me by my friend Brent. It’s written by The Swellers’ drummer and is an insightful, and often heartbreaking glimpse into the ups and downs of band life. Neither of these things are intended to bring you down or break your spirit; quite the opposite in fact! Now more than ever you can be your own boss, run your own business, and build a great team to support your career. You do need to be aware of the dark side of the moon, though, and both of these are great glimpses into it.

Now….onto some fun! 16 years ago today The Beastie Boys began a 3 week run on the album chart with Hello Nasty. One of our favourite Beastie Boys records over here at Thirty Roses HQ, the record went triple platinum in the US alone (that’s 3 million copies for those keeping score at home) and featured singles such as Intergalactic and Body Movin’. In the event you couldn’t choose a soundtrack for the weekend, this may be it!
