In keeping with our mission to let you know about artists on the rise, we want to tell you about the new record and video from alternative rap duo Got Damage. Spitting Bull and Geronimo $ avoid the traps and cliches of current rap and hip hop, choosing instead to sound gritty and “intentionally damaged’ while using their music to “channel messages of strength, spirit seeking, & exploration of the unknown..” Surprisingly, Got Damage manage to accomplish this without sounding preachy or pretentious.
The intro instantly lets you know that this is not the misogynistic, over-indulgent hip hop that has become the preference of the masses, but rather a record of songs written with a purpose greater than getting free bottles of Crystal.
