Billboard isn’t discouraging artists from pursuing new revenue streams, they’re merely stating that albums presold to corporate entities won’t count toward sales on the Billboard charts. Why should they? What would happen if people hadn’t claimed all the advance copies? How would counting those copies, unclaimed by fans, be fair? I’m with Billboard on this and have been all along.
