Random Access Memories

While many of us have been listening to Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories for a few weeks now by way of iTunes streaming and press copies, some people are purists and don’t want to give a record a listen until its official release date.
I completely understand that and there are many artists I feel that way about, myself.
Well kids, the French duo’s first release in almost a decade is officially OUT! And, it’s amazing, at least to my way of thinking.
Crafted almost entirely with ‘real‘ instruments, rather than computers and software, the record sounds, at times, like everyone from Zero 7 and Earth, Wind, and Fire, and even the Daleks from Doctor Who (am I the only one who thinks that?) never letting you forget it’s very much a Daft Punk record.
The guest vocals from Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas, Panda Bear, and Todd Edwards, add substance that previous Daft Punk efforts don’t seem to have.
Not only are Daft Punk back, they appear to be all grown up.
