Music Saves Your Life
5th February 2012 • No comments“Hear a Song” by Ian Love is such a simple and exquisite song. It really does capture the sentiment that we all abide by-even if unwittingly- “music saves your life.”
I think we all have that song, that playlist, that compilation, that mix tape that we retreat to depending on our mood. And it always just fits, somehow.
It’s a universal truth that regardless what genre we prefer, we all have songs and artists that seem to speak just to us- “the words, you identify, now you don’t feel so alone tonight.”
Music and lyrics that articulate our thoughts & feelings. A person whom we’ve never met who somehow manages to express a sentiment more beautifully than we ever could and more powerfully than we could even imagine.
There is always some solace found in the words and melody that others create that serve as a panacea when we need it most. A gift that some people have that gives them the ability to articulate in a 3 minute song what most couldn’t spend a day describing. Of course, the flip side to this is the frustration in wishing you had such a gift (at least for yours truly).
“Rest your soul now, ’cause music saves your life.”
