Meridian Tapping for Musicians

5th November 2012 1 comment

For years musicians have been the trendsetters for alternative healing. Realizing that looking beyond Western medicine to care for their bodies and minds is a way to keep stress, not to mention illness at bay, artists are often seeking out new means of relaxation and healing to stay in top shape for the grueling lifestyle of a touring musician.

That said, I’ve recently met an Energy Educator and Success Coach by the name of Joanne Jaworski. Ms. Jaworski is based in Rochester, New York and specializes in a form of coaching called Meridian Tapping.

Meridian Tapping shares the same basic principles as acupuncture. While acupuncture uses needles to realign the body and stimulate energy channels, or meridians,  Meridian Tapping uses gentle taps on specific points. Along with the tapping, verbal coaching specific to each clients needs, goals, and situation take place to help them work through any mental blocks they may have.

While Ms. Jaworski readily acknowledges that Tapping may not be for everyone and states that she may have a bit of a fight ahead of her at times explaining the effectiveness of this technique, it is worth stating that companies often hire Ms. Jaworski to work with their employees to increase productivity and positivity in their offices.

Additionally, Ms. Jaworski was asked to work with athletes training at the Lake Placid Olympic Training facility in Lake Placid, New York as they are beginning to see the effectiveness of Meridian Tapping. After five days of working together, one athlete in particular saw drastic improvements in what was originally thought to be a career ending injury.

While Tapping is most effective when performed by a trained therapist, Ms. Jaworski offers a series of videos on her web site to allow people to try some basic techniques for relaxation and rejuvenation. Ms. Jaworski offers sessions via telephone and will talk clients through the meridian points as well help them work through any issues and emotional blocks they may have.

Again, it may not be an option that everyone wishes to explore but given how willing musicians are to implement yoga, tai chi, reiki, acupuncture, and even basic massage therapy into their lives to stay balanced given their hectic lives, this is another option they may wish to explore.
