In Memoriam: DJ E-Z Rock28th April 2014 • No comments
DJ E-Z Rock, beloved as half of quintessential late 80’s dance/hip-hop act Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, has passed away.
DJ E-Z Rock, real name Rodney Bryce, 46, became a radio sensation when the duo released their 1988 album It Takes Two. The album went on to become platinum and featured two Top 10 singles; It Takes Two and Joy and Pain.
DJ E-Z Rock, along with collaborator Rob Base, were one of the first acts to mix hip hop, dance, and R & B music in a way that was accessible to all audiences. Whether intentional or not, they made rock and pop fans feel comfortable around hip hop music as a genre and hip hop artists as people.
The pair released two more albums together before eventually going on a long hiatus but had recently performed together for the first time in many years.
DJ E-Z Rock’s cause of death is not known at this time but we send much love to all who knew and loved him.
