It’s Official…The Replacements are Back!

13th June 2013 No comments

After years of begging and months of speculation, it has been confirmed that The Replacements will be performing together again for the first time in 22 years.
After abruptly breaking up on stage mid-set in Chicago in 1991, Paul Westerberg & Tommy Stinson began collaborating again in 2012 to support former bandmate, Slim Dunlap. Slim suffered a debilitating stroke which will require much aftercare and therapy and The Replacements rallied to release the Songs for Slim EP with all proceeds going to the Dunlap family.

While I wouldn’t call it a proper reunion; an impossiblility due to Dunlap’s ill health and the death of guitar player, Bob Stinson) Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson sharing a stage and playing Replacements songs together is as close as we can ever get. I know I’ll be there!

As it stands at the moment, the band are slated to perform at all three Riot Festivals but they have not ruled out the possibility of future dates or recording projects.

Catch Riot Fest in:
Toronto August 24th-25th
Chicago September 13th-15th
Denver September 21st-22nd.
